#About KODOr

The natural skincare brand KODOr was born in Kumano, Wakayama Prefecture, which is surrounded by deep mountains and forests in the southern part of the Kii Peninsula, where much untouched nature remains. Kumano (which today refers to the entire Kii mountain range that straddles the southern parts of Wakayama, Nara, and Mie prefectures) has been called the “land of rebirth” since mythological times, as it has been considered a sanctuary where the gods have dwelt and the Buddha has resided.

Kumano has three sacred sites (Yoshino-Omine, Kumano Sanzan, and Koyasan) and a pilgrimage route (Kumano Kodo) that connects the sacred sites. Kumano was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site on July 7, 2004, in recognition of its scenery, which was shaped by the belief that mountains and forests are the dwelling places of gods and Buddha.

Kumano, the “Land of Rebirth,” is a place where nature is so great that it inspires people to have faith. People have sought healing and rebirth in the power of this great nature.

We spent three years researching and developing safe products that support physical and mental health by harnessing the power of nature in the land of resurrection. We do not add anything extra, we do not add anything harmful, we are gentle to many people, and we help them regain their original health.

KODOr's philosophy of product creation is deeply connected to the identity of its birthplace.
